European Urban Resilience Forum with participation of LIFE LOCAL ADAPT

Since 2013, the “Open European Day” - from this year on the “European Urban Resilience Forum” - takes place in Bonn. The Forum is a unique platform to learn about and discuss strategies for adapting to climate change and thus increasing the resilience of cities. A special characteristic of the forum is its very interactive format.

This year, the focus laid on smaller municipalities. In the European Union, there are tens thousands of small towns and smaller municipalities compared to around 800 cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants. Capacities, resources and administration of smaller municipalities differ, sometimes considerably, from those of bigger cities. In one of nine sessions, the challenges of adaptation planning in smaller municipalities, their specific support needs and possible solutions were examined. Beside the Italian municipality of Urbino, also two partner municipalities of LIFE LOCAL ADAPT, the German municipality of Coswig and the municipality of Weiz in Austria took part in the discussion.
