Global Change Research Institute
CzechGlobe - Global Change Research Institute has been established as a centre of excellence within The Czech Academy of Sciences. Using the spatially located infrastructure including modern techniques and instrumentation (e.g. eddy-covariance ecosystem stations, remote sensing laboratory, etc.), research is carried out in three main segments affected by global change, namely the (1) atmosphere – climate change and its modelling, (2) ecosystems – the carbon cycle, impacts of global change on biodiversity and ecosystems, and (3) socio-economic systems - impacts of global change on the development and behaviour of society.

Helena Duchkova is a research assistant at the Department of the Human Dimensions of Global Change of the Global Change Research Institute (CzechGlobe) and PhD student of Social Ecology at the Charles University in Prague. Helena focuses on the provisioning of ecosystem services (ES) in city environments, related social justice in the spatial distribution of ES benefits and scenarios of nature-based solutions for more sustainable and equitable future.
In the LIFE LOCAL ADAPT project, Helena is responsible for the coordination of project activities in the Czech Republic and will be involved in the preparation of participatory workshops and creation of adaptation strategies for municipalities in the Northwest Region.

Eva Horváthová is a researcher at Department of Human Dimensions of Global Change, Global Change Research Institute, the Czech Academy of Sciences (CzechGlobe). She is also a lecturer in Environmental Economics at the University of Economics, Prague. Her research focuses on cost-benefit analyses of climate change adaptation measures and valuation of ecosystem services.
In the LIFE LOCAL ADAPT project, Eva is responsible for cost benefit analyses of climate change adaptation measures.
Simon is a research assistant at Department of the Human Dimensions of Global Change of the Global Change Research Institute (CzechGlobe) and a PhD student of Environmental Studies at the University of Constantine The Philosopher in Nitra. His PhD research is focused on the urban green space planning and governance with a particular objective of analysing the procedural aspects. At CzechGlobe, Simon focuses on participatory and policy research to advance climate adaptation in cities and municipalities. The methods he works with include land use scenario building, stakeholder workshops, and assessing nature-based solutions.
